YOGA NIDRA

Yoga Nidra is a sleep based meditation technique, that helps effortlessly disengage from our tense and stressed out mind by using a series of body, breath and awareness techniques.

Our mind can play tricks on us, and sometimes drive us crazy! The practice of Yoga Nidra is about dropping from mind, which is busy doing, and progressively entering states of being in the now.

Yoga Nidra, by its nature, drops us into an allowing space and from this relaxed place, you learn to release and align first. Your airplane maybe delayed, or your car dented. Reality is reality, and resisting won't change it. Starting from a place of relaxation, you will find yourself able to handle situations and do what is needed from a calmer, more balanced state. You will be more at peace and relaxed with more and more aspects of your life.

Benefits:

  • Balancing of nervous system and lowers blood pressure
  • Release from stress and stress-related disorders

  • Relief for chronic pain

  • Abundant physical energy and alertness

  • Increased mental acuity, mental alertness and clarity
  • Potential to heal psychological wounds
  • Deepened more restful sleep
  • Awakens motivation and creativity

  • Boosts the immune system
  • Engender a profound sense of joy and well-being

RESTORATIVE YOGA

The beauty of restorative yoga is that there is no muscular contraction involved. Most people believe we have to “work” to increase flexibility, but often we achieve more opening in parts of the body that we perceive as tight, simply by softening and relaxing. During a restorative yoga sequence you still stretch - but you relax fully in the stretch, completely supported by yoga props - so that tension can slowly be released.

Because the body and mind relax - literally becoming softer - we also create space to get in touch again with our natural qualities of compassion and understanding of others and ourselves.

Benefits:

  • Enhances flexibility
  • Deeply relaxes the body
  • Stills the mind
  • Improves capacity for healing and balancing
  • Balances the nervous system
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Develops qualities of compassion and understanding toward others and self
  • Enhances mood states

For Who?

You Don't Have to Do Yoga or Meditate to Do Yoga Nidra! It's a deceptively simple practice, taught lying down and guided by a teacher—it's appealing to people who might feel intimidated by yoga postures or traditional seated meditation.

Unlike other forms of meditation, in which you focus on a mantra or on your breath, yoga nidra asks you simply to let go. "The practice forces us to engage the muscle of surrender."

Bring Along:

Yoga mat  |  comfy clothing  |  eye pillow (optional)  | jumper or light blanket

“Yoga Nidra is the master key to initiating shifts in conscious sleep states where change happens outside of doing. In Yoga Nidra you enter a state of non-doing in which transformation happens from beyond the mind rather than through the mind. In this highly regenerative sedative state you can restore and rejuvenate your body, heal and recover from illness and re-wire your brain from greater mental and emotional balance and resiliency. ”
